Award winning jazz saxophonist and Tierra Records recording artist Shenole Latimer helps his course participants to embark upon a journey of musical and self discovery. Beginner participants will learn the basics of jazz improvisation through hands-on playing experiences, starting with a visit into the blues and other song forms, and moving into an understanding of some of the fundamental chord progressions found in jazz. The ii - V7 - I progression is taken to new heights by intermediate participants, and some basic turn-arounds are introduced. Also, add to that an expedition into the world of the minor blues. For advanced participants, learn about transposing phrases, tritone substitutions, “Rhythm Changes”, diminished relations and more.
This master class can also be adapted to cover the topics of your choice that pertain to jazz improvisation.
